The Power of Makeup

The Power of Makeup

The power of makeup is not just a hot trend on YouTube, but it is a form of self-expression. Makeup has the power to change not just how an individual look but how they feel. Using makeup to change your physical appearance have been around for centuries. The power makeup has over the public will always change, due to the popularity of a certain trend or technic that is used in makeup.

I was always around make up all of my life, but it did not make me a girly girl or as some call Barbie girl. Once I got to college, that all changed. I was tired of being seen as a tomboy or unfeminine to the people around me. I always been a plus size woman and social standards can be very demanding for the plus size citizens. I wanted to learn all I can do to change that. I started to ask around to all my friends that wore makeup and asked them all I could about makeup plus I even asked one of my friends' mom about cosmetics and brushes. I want to see what the power of makeup could do for me.

One day one of my friends suggested that I go on YouTube and look up makeup videos and tutorials on how to apply makeup for different occasions. I started to look up videos and most of the video was from women who do not look like myself. I decided to look for videos that stared women that looked like me. I came across a video by MsCreativeDiva and I was hooked to her videos. I had to watch all her videos. I just couldn't stop watching them. Every day after school I would watch her videos, and after work and during lunch break I would watch her videos. I couldn't stop watching her and trying to do the same looks she was doing, yet it never looks like her videos but I keep trying.

The power of makeup has giving me the one thing that was buried way deep inside of me, and that thing was my confidence. Now I show my confidence even when I do not have on my makeup because of makeup I can pull it out with or without it. I also learn that sometimes somethings so simple as makeup can go you the power to pull something out of you that you didn’t know you had.

Chicago and Men's Fashion Week Chicago Finale show

Hi all my wonderful readers!!!!

Andrea Kelly
Sorry for the long wait, but I had to make sure everything was right before I post this. The last weekend in June, I along with my best friend went to Chicago, Ill. We really enjoyed ourselves. We went to the DUI fashion show which was the finale for Men's Fashion Week Chicago. Coming from Detroit, a city known for it's mix of classic and future fashion sense, I knew I had to bring it. The show was held at DuSable Museum of African American History located 740 E 56th Pl, Chicago, IL 60637.  The show and the week long event was organize by the one and only Blake Martin. The show was hosted by Tony Harper of VH1's Hollywood EXES and Andrea Kelly of VH1's Hollywood EXES, acclaim choreographer and dancer.

Me on my way to Men's Fashion Week Chicago
Someone like myself that only see fashion shows on television or just read about them, I had a stereotyped thought in my mind of how it was going to go. The show was high beat the total time which was totally the opposite I thought it was going to be. The show had everything from comedy from the hostess, hot fashion, dance numbers, and celebrity model Sessilee Lopez. Unkowning to me there were a couple designers in the show that were from Detroit. It was great and fresh breath of air to see young people doing positive things and place a positive light on to their city. It was also great to see how the show did not show favoritism between the newer designers and the more known designers. Everyone had their respected time on stage. I know you thinking because it was Men's Fashion Week that it was only clothing for me, but you are wrong there was clothes and designs for men and women. Blake Martin made sure that whoever came to his show would have an expereince unlike anything before. There were a list of wonder designers  at the end of the video and, please go look up all these wonderful designers and their work, you will not regret it.

Younique just like you

Hello my beautiful readers!

To all my readers that are make up artists, love to create, or just learning about make up.
youniqueI found a great online shop where you can find all your make up needs. I tried a few of their make up products and I love it. The company is called Youinque and I was introduced to the company but one of their sale representative name Jackie. They have brushes all the way to concealer. All the products are reasonable price.  I love the eyeshadows. They are loose powder that can be use wet or dry. They come in different sizes and colors,  and the best part you can mix the colors to make the right colors for you. The product that introduced me to the company was the 3D fiber lashes. The lashes really help make your eyes stand out and be seen. I will post pictures of me wearing them during my trip to Chicago. The lashes come in a nice black case small enough to fit in your purse. It comes with a gel that helps curl your natural eye lashes and the fibers about to put on the ends of your natural eye lashes. This is a great product if you like me and can not put on false eye lashes or just dont have the time to put them on. Check out the website I promise you will find your own favorite product and fall in love like I did.
