health in the medical field

I want to start off by saying that I am not a doctor or anyone who is in the position to give any medical advice. Once again I am not a doctor, I am posting this to shine a light on one of the least known jobs in our health system.

The job I am talking about is Patient Safety Attendant or better known as Patient Sitter. This is job is very under appreciated job in the hospital. The job entails a person who has CPR training at the least to keep visuals on a patient or patients( 2 is the max to watch for one sitter) for a minimal of eight hours. The hard part is being ripped from our socialist world for that long with no access to the outside world. You are not allow to have cellphones, iPod,iPad, or heavy reading materials. You must keep your eye on the patient and take mental notes of the patients' activities and the activities of the visitors.

The reason I think this is a hard job is because the  human mind wonders and you are force to stop your body from doing something natural for a small amount of money. Some health systems will give you a hour break like to unwind from the stress cause by the patients where some will only give you 30 minutes. I can say for me in this job it is hard to work in that position for more than six month. I notice I started to form panic attacks and the feeling of "the walls caving in on me" even when I was at home.

I feel that more medical professionals should respect Sitters more because we are doing a job you do  not want to do. We do more than just sit on our butts. We have a more mental job and means that our job is 90% mental in which just because you can not see our work like nurses and doctors do not mean our job is less important. Please be more conceited to us and our needs cause this is a hard job too.

This is not your Grandma Class anymore!!

This week I went to a senior aerobic workout class with my mother. In my mind, I thought I was in for a hour long class where everyone do aerobic moves while sitting in a chair. Once I walked through the door, I knew this would not be anything how I thought it was going to be. I walked in  with my mother and the room filled with a roar of good mornings and hellos towards my mother and I.

We went over to the front table and sign in and pay our $2. My mom walked me around to say hi to everyone. Once the teacher walked in everyone found them a chair and got ready to stretch. The teacher was full of life and energy. The class stood up and worked out to a up beat song.

The class did low impact moves, yet it was very fun and you really don't think this class was for seniors. The last 15 minutes the teacher was leading the class in a ballroom line dance and the "Wobble" hustle. Once the class was over, the teacher lead the class in a cool down mediation and prayer.

As the youngest person in the room, I was amaze how fun and positive the class was for me. The class itself is a community of support and love. Any time someone miss a class everyone notice it and check on them. I am help my mom is apart of this group. They go on trips and other fun activities. You will be surprise the wonderful gems you find at your local community center. I suggest you go to your community center and check out the classes they offer.

What is Couture?

Hello my wonderful readers,

I would like to state how sorry I am for lack of posting. Now , I am back with a post for your lovely viewing pleasure. *muah* enjoy:

Last month, I went to a fashion show in the near by city of Ferndale, Michigan. It was the first Annual Lavish Couture fashion show. Now that it was the first annual, I many would turn an eye to some issues that may have came up before, during, and after the show. I tried but somethings I can not turn an eye.

Once I arrive to the location of the fashion show, the show was held at the Rust Belt Market, there was no clear line stating which line was for people who already purchase a ticket(regular seating is $25 and VIP seating was $35) from those who were buying their tickets at the door. Once the crowd made a line for their respected ideas, one of the desired viewer of the show let it be known that she was not happy about the way the door was being manage, since the worker at the door did not have change to provide her for her purchase of the ticket. She state how she had to buy a $7 dollar piece of cake just to get change to buy a ticket. We was shown into a white inclement in the center of the market. The chairs was arrange in a triangle formation. There we were told VIP's could sit anywhere in the front row. I pick my seat in front row and wait to see what would happen next. The show was promoted to start at 6 pm, which is still during market hours of operations, yet the show did not start until after 7pm. Let it be known that we had to wait 30 minutes after 6 pm arrive before we could be seated. There where no clear sign of the start of the show.

The MC of the show was lack luster for the lack of better words. There were microphone issues all night, and the deejay was missing his mark with the start and end of the designers shows. The live band was the best musical entertainment that night. As a VIP, along with front row seating, I receive a hookah. The hookah was set up across the room. The was no way of checking who was VIP and who was not. There was not a enough hookahs to go around so I did not partake of the hookah in which I paid for. The designers where up and coming in the fashion scene and some of their work shows that. The fashion was not my style so I would not say anything bad about the outfits, yet do to the microphone issues I was unable to hear the names of the designers. There was one store to have a spot in the show. First Lady Boutique had nice pieces yet they showed mostly prom style dress. With all I found wrong with show, I was happy to see Detroit to show other sides of it's self than music.

Here is the link to all the photos from the show: https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B4FFmF39HjBQaWF6c2t1ZTlQb1U&usp=sharing

The best part of the show was the introduction to a wonderful organization called Purity in Pink. It is a organization that set up young girls with mentors and tools to help improve their self esteem and self development. This is a great organization to have around for young girls today because of the bullying issue that have grown over the years. As a survivor of bullying, as a child an organization like this would have me out so much. If you want to know more about the organization go check out their site at www.purityinpink.wordpress.com and they always need more mentors.
